3 What needs does this program serve in meeting the mission, core values, and strategic plan of the college?

This program supports both educational and workforce needs, the regional computer information technology industry, and the local community.  The program is industry/community driven with an advisory board comprised of computing professionals representing a broad sector of leading technology businesses from Region 1 of the state of Idaho.

Educational excellence and community engagement: Interns and graduates are in high demand in our community. During their internship experience, our students apply what is learned in the classroom and laboratory in a variety of local computer information technology departments. Local employers like mentoring these student interns and often offer them permanent positions at the completion of their internship experience.

Lifelong learning:  Evidenced by the number of returning “older” students in the program as well as the recent articulations of dual credit courses with Idaho’s secondary schools. The college has agreements with baccalaureate programs for students to continue their education.

Our students succeed: Demand for CITE program graduates exceeds the number of graduates.
