Assistant Professor – Computer Information Technology/Cisco Networking
- Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related field plus five years full-time equivalent work experience with personal computers and networks, or a Bachelor’s degree plus three years full-time equivalent work experience with personal computers and networks is required. CompTIA’s A+, Network+, and Cisco CCNA certifications are required. CompTIA Linux + and Security+ certifications preferred. Master’s degree is preferred.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Must possess or be able to obtain an Idaho State Career Technical Education (CTE) post-secondary teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement/s.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Expert knowledge of networking communications and protocols, configure Cisco routers and switches, IPv4 & IPv6 subnetting, Wireshark and Packet Tracer.
- Excellent interpersonal communications, oral and written English communication skills.
- Strong skills in routing & switching, virtualization, time management, educating/training adults for employment, demonstrated skills troubleshooting communications networks.
- Basic Linux commands & Linux system administration.
- Ability to use a personal computer and associated peripherals and current version of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, Internet, and alternative delivery systems (e.g., internet and interactive video) at a proficient level.

- Ability to operate standard office equipment including phone and copier.

- Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related field plus five years full-time equivalent work experience in Cybersecurity and networks, or a Bachelor’s degree plus three years full-time equivalent work experience in Cybersecurity and networks is required. CompTIA’s Network+ and Security+ certifications are required. CompTIA Linux +, Cisco CCNA CyberOPS, and CISSP certifications preferred. Master’s degree is preferred.

- Must possess or be able to obtain an Idaho State Career Technical Education (CTE) post-secondary teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement/s.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong skills in firewall configuration, virtualization, time management, educating/training adults for employment, demonstrated skills troubleshooting communications networks
- Excellent interpersonal communications.
- Expert knowledge of networking communications and protocols, IPv4 subnetting, cybersecurity philosophies and concepts in regards to Confidentiality Integrity and Availability (CIA) and Advanced Persistent Threats (APT).
- Basic Linux commands, Linux system administration, and Python programming skills.
- Desired skills or ability to develop and use NIST cybersecurity policies and procedures, configure Cisco routers and switches with a basic security configuration, familiar with using Wireshark, and awareness of what a Security Information Event Management (SIEM) system, in particular Security Onion, is used for.
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
- Ability to use a personal computer and associated peripherals and current version of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, Internet, and alternative delivery systems (e.g., internet and interactive video) at a proficient level.

Since recently losing one of our faculty mid-semester, we have initiated the hiring process to bring on an additional instructor to the department. We are hoping to find a full-time replacement before the start of the Fall 2024 semester.
Please describe whether you are able to readily hire faculty with appropriate qualifications and credentials when needs arise.
We are able – college administrators approved the hiring of a qualified candidate as an addition to the CITE program both logistically and monetarily.
