7 Program Goals: provide previous program review or accreditation recommendations and describe the actions/progress taken to meet the recommendations.
Program Goals and Actions Taken:
From the previous CAOT Department program review, the following goals and actions were identified. After the administrative decision to transition from a department-wide program review to an individual review focusing solely on the Administrative Office Management Technology (AOMT) program, only Goal 1 is directly applicable.
Goal 1: Explore developing a common Workplace Readiness Skill assessment for relevant CAOT courses.
- Actions Taken: The program has initiated communication with the State Career Technical Education (CTE) department regarding the use of the secondary Workplace Readiness Skills Assessment (WRA) in the program. Progress on this is ongoing, as the department is awaiting feedback from the state on implementation. Additionally, further efforts were made during the ACTE 2024 conference to directly connect with the company supplying the WRA, ensuring a proactive approach to this initiative. The CAOT department remains committed to integrating this assessment into the internship course, reinforcing its alignment with workplace readiness goals.
Goal 2: Explore employer tuition reimbursement programs through a targeted survey.
- Actions Taken: A flyer was developed collaboratively with NIC Marketing and distributed via the Idaho Department of Labor’s employer database to eliminate the need for a survey.
Goals Not Applicable to the AOMT Program:
- Goal 3: Explore creating a CAHIIM-accredited Health Information Technology (HIT) program. Action taken: The goal was postponed due to shifting accreditation standards, budget constraints, low enrollment, and reduced demand.
Ongoing Efforts for the AOMT Program: The AOMT program is dedicated to finalizing the integration of the Workplace Readiness Skills Assessment and administering it as part of the internship course. By maintaining this focus, the program continues to align its efforts with the overarching goal of fostering workplace readiness and aligning with industry standards.
