4 What evidence exists of the internal and external demands for the program?

Internal Demand: The Administrative Office Management Technology (AOMT) program has consistently demonstrated strong internal demand, with many students enrolling to upgrade their office technology skills or transition into new careers. A significant number of students are already employed in administrative roles while completing their program, underscoring the program’s relevance and appeal to working professionals. The fully online format further supports this internal demand by providing flexibility for adult learners, working professionals, and students requiring adaptable schedules. This accessibility has contributed to consistent enrollments and positive feedback from students and faculty alike, highlighting the program’s effectiveness in meeting academic and professional needs.

In addition, there is high dual credit demand based on the following data I collect each semester from the secondary dual credit instructors for the Computer Applications Dual Credit Partnership:

External Demand: Externally, the program aligns with robust workforce needs in Idaho. According to the Leading Idaho Occupational Outlook Data for 2023-2030 (see attachment), several occupations within the Administrative Office Management Technology (AOMT) program are projected to experience significant growth.

  • Customer Service Representatives: 11.2% growth with 3,935 annual openings.
  • Executive Secretaries and Executive Administrative Assistants: 13.2% growth with 321 annual openings.
  • First-line Supervisors of Office and Administrative Support Workers: 12.3% growth with 1,453 annual openings.
  • Receptionists and Information Clerks: 21.7% growth with 1,741 annual openings.
  • Office Clerks, General: 15.7% growth with 3,524 annual openings.

The demand for Administrative Services Managers, Executive Secretaries and Executive Administrative Assistants, Correspondence Clerks, Data Entry Keyers, Office Clerks, Order Clerks, Postal Service Clerks, Procurement Clerks, Receptionists and Information Clerks, and First-Line Supervisors of Office and Administrative Support Workers remains high, with competitive salaries and positive job outlooks. This evidence underscores the strong internal and external demands for the AOMT program, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for a variety of high-demand careers in the administrative and office management fields. This strong demand highlights the program’s alignment with the regional workforce needs, preparing students for high-growth career opportunities in administrative and office management roles.

Idaho Launch Program: The AOMT program has been recognized as in demand by Next Steps Idaho, qualifying it for Idaho Launch funding. This initiative provides essential financial support to students pursuing education in these high-demand fields, reinforcing the program’s critical role in addressing workforce needs and driving economic development. By easing financial barriers, Idaho Launch funding expands access to the valuable skills and certifications offered by AOMT, further highlighting its significance to the region. This support makes education more affordable and accessible, empowering students to pursue successful careers in administrative office management and strengthening pathways to workforce readiness.

With a combination of strong internal enrollments, high external demand for skilled professionals, and financial support through initiatives like Idaho Launch, the AOMT program continues to play a vital role in meeting both educational and workforce demands in Idaho. This ensures that graduates are well-prepared for thriving careers and able to contribute meaningfully to the local economy.
