16 Student Issues
It is important to follow policy and procedure when working with student issues.
Here are the common policies that reference student issues:
5.04 Grading (see procedure for grade appeals)
5.06.01 Academic Integrity (see procedure for academic integrity appeals)
5.16 Student Complaints and Concerns
All student behavioral issues should be reported to the Dean of Students to be addressed.
Time Conflicts:
Occasionally you will encounter a situation where a student wants to enroll in two courses that create a time conflict. In order to approve a time conflict, both instructors must agree to the conflict and the supervising Chairs and Dean(s) must approve.
Late Withdrawal:
Student wishing to withdraw from a single course after the withdraw date can petition the respective Dean. Student’s seeking a late withdraw from all courses must petition the Admission and Academic Standards committee.
Non-Attendance Reinstatement:
If a student is dropped for non-attendance, they will first be directed to connect with their instructor. If the instructor is willing to add them back into the course, the instructor will contact the Division Chair for reinstatement. If the student did not attend prior to the drop for non-attendance date, the chair should ensure that the students is able to be successful in the course, despite having missed a portion. To reinstate the student, the Chair will submit a Schedule Change Form (SoftDocs) to the RAD office for processing. Go to MyNIC>SoftDocs Etrieve Forms
