6 Program Goals: list your annual program goals and describe the actions/progress taken to meet those goals.
2020-2022 period, annual goals:
- Work with NIC campus to enhance awareness and value of inclusion of History courses in a wider variety of programs
- Adjust course offerings by reevaluating the variety of courses offered, particularly at the 200 level to increase fill rates.
- Expand History program’s dual enrollment offerings in regional HS
- Hold an annual (Fall semester) pre-registration cohort awareness/advising meeting with declared History students to introduce new students to History faculty, review the 200 level courses.
Actions have been taken to expand dual credit offerings in some of the local high schools, though outreach to the smaller schools to assess their needs has not progressed beyond contacting a few administrators. The DC enrollment continues to expand despite overall enrollment declines. We have responded to declining student interest in 200 level courses by reducing the number of those courses offered to just HIST 290, which is required for students with a history emphasis. Some effort has been made to inform the Office of Advising about history courses, particularly in the later stages of enrollment periods. We have not held pre-registration cohort advising/awareness meetings with declared History majors yet.
