25 Teaching Methods:
What pedagogical approaches (lecture, class discussions, small group exercises, experiential, etc.) does the program use to serve the diverse learning needs of students?
History faculty use all of these (with multiple approaches occurring regularly in the same class) pedagogical approaches with the exception of experiential learning, which occurs mainly in HIST-290, in face to face and hybrid courses. These are replicated in online courses by using outside videos and readings, that are used for asynchronous readings/video-based, discussions among the students, which require student interaction. Recorded lectures are used in some of the asynchronous online courses, which can vary by faculty. In addition to these approaches, students engage in guided research-based learning in all courses, though this is only the foundation of assessment HIST 290.
