Student Accident & Incident Policy

Student Accident/Injury: In the event that a student has an accident or injury in the class, clinical/externship setting or on a field trip, please complete the following steps:

1. Seek medical attention immediately if necessary.
2. Complete the North Idaho College Student Accident Report.
3. If an accident or injury occurred outside of NIC’s campus, please cooperate and follow the facilities’ policy and procedures.
4. Collect written statements of others who witnessed the accident or injury.
5. Please contact the Operations Manager the day of the accident at 208-929-4022 or at adruppel@nic.edu as well as the Coordinator of your class.
6. Submit completed Student Accident Report and any witness statements to the Operations Manager within 24 hours of the accident/injury. The Operations Manager will submit the proper documentation to the Office of the Vice President of Student Services per NIC policy and to the Director of the Workforce Training Center.
7. If accident requires medical attention, please have student complete the Claims Form and provide them with a copy of the Insurance policy.  Please submit Claims Form to Operations Manager.  If student initially decides not to pursue medical attention but then changes their mind, Operations Manager will assist student in filling out Claim Form for submittal to NIC insurance company (BMI).
