32 Instructional Equipment
Briefly describe instructional equipment, laboratory equipment, etc., used by this program.
Within the classroom, most faculty utilize the instructor computer station equipped with a SMART Technology Sympodium Interactive Display to write lesson notes within either MS Office OneNote or SMART Notebook. Faculty record classroom lectures or pre-record lessons with the use of Zoom or Ponopto and either a SMART Sympodium or a Microsoft Surface Pro tablet. Faculty’s recorded lessons and exported lesson notes are seamlessly integrated within the Canvas course shells for each math course so students can access the notes and recordings from their own devices at any time in the term.
Most faculty employ technology to assist in visualizing the concepts being presented such as GeoGebra, Geometer’s Sketchpad, desmos.com, StatCrunch, and MS Excel. This technology is also available for the students and activities and projects are incorporated into many courses which require the students to engage with these tools. To support our students understanding and mastery, many faculty employ homework systems such as MyMathLab, ALEKS, or MyOpenMath.
Is existing equipment adequate to meet the current and future instructional demands of the program? Please explain.
Yes.
Describe equipment funding strategies such as State, Perkins, student fees, etc.
Equipment for the Math Department is funded through a variety of on-campus mechanisms. Primarily classroom technology (i.e. software) is provided/funded by IT and eLearning and classroom equipment (i.e. projector or instructor computer) is funded from the General Studies Equipment or IT Equipment Replacement funds.
