40 Review Team: Review of the Process

Please indicate the strengths of this review process.

  • The math program review book was wonderful. The review team recognizes that the book was written collectively by the entire math department. The book was well written and gave a very clear overall picture of the math program.
  • Student review block time was appropriate.
  • Good communication in setting up the review day, the review team felt well-informed on what was expected.
  • The faculty session was very informative. The review team felt that they learned the most about the math program during this time. An hour was ideal.

Please indicate the weaknesses of this review process.

  • Some parts of the day were too short and felt rushed.
  • The review team would have liked to talked to more students and students form various levels of courses.

Do you have any suggestions for improving this process.

  • The review team would have appreciated some 1-on-1 time with both administration and volunteering faculty.
  • More time during the day. Next time plan for at least a 2-hour block for the review team work session and a 1-hour block for the exit interview.
  • More time visiting with students and staff in the Math Education Center.
  • Use food or some other device to encourage more student participation during the student review session.
