Discuss enrollment trends
Overall enrollments at North Idaho College have been in steady decline since before the last program review. This is consistent with national trends. During this same time psychology course enrollments mirrored this trend, including a low of 354 students in Fall 2023. Enrollments at NIC rebounded in Fall 2024. According to the college data dashboard NIC ended Fall 2024 with a 15.2% increase year-over-year. PSYC outperformed the school as a whole, ending with a 25% increase, year-over-year. This trend has continued in Spring 2025; the college currently has a 15% enrollment increase over last year. Considering the various challenges higher education and North Idaho College have faced during the last five-year cycle (COVID and accreditation) this data suggests the program is stable and well positioned to increase enrollments in the coming years.
If applicable, what plans are in place to deal with or improve enrollments including recruitment strategies?
Hiring of an additional full-time faculty member will help address the increase in enrollments. In light of the upward enrollment trend, we do not anticipate implementing any unique recruitment strategies. Faculty will continue to participate in campus events, advising, and college wide recruitment events such as the NIC Bus Tour and dual credit high school visits to NIC.
