9 Student Absences

Extracurricular:

Students should receive an excused absence when they are missing class for NIC sponsored extracurricular activities such as athletes missing for games. It is the student’s responsibility to provide the instructor a schedule of games or activities and to regularly communicate with their instructors in advance of absences. Students are responsible to complete assignments by the established due dates.

Medical:

Students should not be asked for medical documentation about their specific illnesses. This information is protected under medical privacy laws. Faculty can request a note from a doctor that indicates the physician examined the student on a certain date and time and lists the dates the student is to be kept from school due to illness.
